“Sounds of the City” at the Ukrainian House National Center

On November 18, the “Sounds of the City” exhibition opened in the National Center “Ukrainian House” in Kyiv.

“Hear, see and feel Ukraine!” – a call for an audiovisual tour of the hometowns of the Motherland. Each city in the form of an art object embodies the memories and reflections of Ukrainians, who are connected by a kaleidoscope of authentic sounds. Thus, the sounds of 7 cities of Ukraine were recorded and transformed into seven sculptures with the help of special programs of sound design and 3D visualization.
During the year, each of the 7 sculptures appeared in prominent places in Odesa, Dnipro, Lviv, Mariupol, Kharkiv and Crimea (the office of the Crimean Platform), and Kyiv became the final city of the synthesis of art and technology, uniting the sounds of Ukraine’s regions.

The team spent 210 minutes listening and analyzing 2,475 recorded sounds, viewed 280 forms of transformed sounds, used 52 hours of virtual reality and 5 tons of metal to create art objects.
