Maria Leonenko
Works with painting, performance, installation and text. Develops themes of identity, embodying various social and cultural roles. Uses her own body as a means of expression, exploring the formation of the image of the “self” in the context of media and gender constructs. Offers to understand identity not as an essence, but as an internal source of autonomy of thinking.
She had solo exhibitions in Ukraine, Germany, Georgia and Sweden. Participated in group exhibitions in museums and art centers in Ukraine, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Romania and Poland. In 2024 she assisted atelienormalno during its participation in the National Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. She is a co-founder of the NGO “Center for Neurotypical and Neurotypical Artists”.
