Hidden, silent and almost invisible
Conception, creation, testing, packaging, transportation, preservation, implementation, exchange – these and other processes of object materialization in the everyday environment are segmented and barely noticeable. “Hidden, silent and almost invisible” invites you to reflect on the spaces in which, through the flow of objects and objects of use, there is an exchange of memory and symbols. In her works, the artist Olena Pryduvalova refers to her own experience of experiencing moments of emotional tension, during which interaction with natural markets becomes a welcome act of resistance to destruction and hopelessness. Agamben writes about this through the concept of “bare life”, considering the crisis conditions in which the reduction to basic needs takes place. However, it is in the market that even the most primitive acts – buying products, having a short conversation – are transformed into actions that restore the feeling of “living together”, exchanging values, not just goods. Anastasiya Leliuk, through her work with the images of familiar objects, translates them from the space of everyday life into the dimension of creation, using Michel de Certeau’s concepts of consumption as an invisible act of creation. This can only be the first step, which expands to include also his urbanist theories of tactical spontaneous and temporary actions as spontaneous commerce that transform the city space, as opposed to strategic planning, which strives for orderliness and control. The project draws attention to the aesthetic dimension of the routine, where every gesture sends us to something greater that wears away under the influence of habituation. Natural markets, interaction with people and objects – provide not only physical survival, but also carry the potential of transformation into an act of experiencing resilience, the realization of a welcoming thirst, togetherness and restoration.
