Danylo Kovach

Danylo Kovach (b. 1992, Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vienna since 2022. He studied at the A. Erdeli College of Arts (Painting Department) and the Lviv National Academy of Arts (Department of Sacred Monumental Art). In addition, he participated in the Week of Contemporary Art biennale in Lviv, which significantly contributed to his informal artistic development.

Kovach’s practice encompasses graphics, photography, installation, and performance. He has been a member of the artist group Carrousel and also works as a curator and coordinator of international projects. His works explore absurdist actions and performative gestures, often intersecting with decorative and applied arts, design, and utilitarian forms. A recurring element in his practice is the transformation of ordinary rubber mats into paintings and installations, creating a semiotic visual language that engages with themes of human rights, instability, division, memory, and distortion.
