Sounds of the City

Sounds of the City” — a project in which the sounds of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odessa, Mariupol, as well as the unified sound for the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, were recorded and transformed into art objects using sound design and 3D programs – visualization.
The idea to create “Sounds of the City” came from three initiators: Alyona Tymoshenko, producer of GOODMEDIA production, Natalia Tkachenko, art curator, founder of the contemporary young art platform Spilne Art, and audio-visual artist, co-founder of audiovisual design studio NotJustForm, Lyra Ginzburg.

The project includes sculptures and documentaries about the creation of art objects. The basis of each sculpture was the memories and reflections of famous citizens: artists, athletes, artists, scientists and entrepreneurs.
The sounds were recorded and transformed into art objects using sound design and 3D visualization programs.
The initiative was implemented with the support of private patrons, crowdfunding, as well as with the assistance of city administrations.

“We want to show how different art can be. That the combination of several different disciplines and modern technologies can give birth to a new artistic form, and then become an element of the urban landscape and part of the life of the citizens,” says Nataliya Tkachenko.
The next step for the initiators is to create similar sculptures for as many other cities of the country as possible, involving national business, local entrepreneurs and city administration.
