Svitlana Struk
Svitlana Struk is a multidisciplinary Ukrainian artist working across painting, drawing, and textile art. Born in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, she graduated in 2010 from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, where she specialized in easel painting. She currently lives and works in Kyiv.
Following the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Struk’s artistic practice underwent a significant transformation. Turning to embroidery as her primary medium, she developed a distinctive visual language in which a traditional craft acquires contemporary relevance and becomes a tool for exploring memory, loss, vulnerability, and resilience. Her works exist at the intersection of personal narrative and collective experience, transforming individual stories into powerful cultural testimonies of their time.
Svitlana Struk’s works have been exhibited in Ukraine, Poland, and Spain, including the international projects Embroidered. Ukraine Now (Barcelona) and MATERIA MATTERS. Ukrainian Art Textile (Kyiv). Through her textile-based practice, she contributes to the growing discourse surrounding contemporary Ukrainian art, where materiality, cultural memory, and lived experience become inseparable elements of artistic expression.
