Mariia Vasylenko
Maria Vasylenko (born 2001, Kyiv, Ukraine) is an artist who lives and works in Kyiv.
She studied at an art school, then at the Kyiv College of Art and Design, and later at the Boychuk Academy (monumental art). She also delved into icon painting in the workshops of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. She has a philosophical education.
An artist who creates pictorial objects on boards made of recycled wood.
In her works, the sacred and the everyday, myth and unpredictable reality intersect. Her objects exist both within the walls and outside them — sometimes as meaningless glitches of space, sometimes as quiet or provocative images that raise questions about civilizational fractures, invented myths, and spiritual experiences.
Maria’s practice combines the experience of monumental art, iconography and philosophy, forming a special visual language in which material, image and surface interact as a space for reflection and feelings.
