Daria Super

born in Lviv, Ukraine, is a ceramic artist. She graduated from the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Faculty of Ceramics, and currently lives in Ukraine.

The focus of her practice is on glamour and gloss – both as surface qualities and as symbols of desirability. Her objects imitate the perfection of plastic. The ceramic material imposes rules and limitations. She works like a factory worker: leaving seams, applying slips technically, following conventional instructions –

“red nails, yellow or black hair, blue eyes.”

Her objects have human features but remain depersonalized, assembled from stereotypes rather than individuality. She does not interpret or judge, she records the phenomenon in the material. Her primary techniques are hand-building and porcelain slip casting.
